Three days in Manchester to celebrate 150 years of unification of Italy
FESTA ITALIA is organised by Societa’ Dante Alighieri in Manchester and Ciao Italia (Italian Restaurateurs in England)
Programme of events:
Friday 17 and Saturday 18 June ( 10.00am – 5.30pm) – Stalls at the Book Market in St. Ann’s Square with Italian books on history, language and culture
Friday 17 June ( 6.00pm) – IABF International Anthony Burgess Foundation, 3 Cambridge Street, Manchester – 150 years of Italian emigration: screening of the film ‘Nuovomondo’ (in Italian) followed by a forum (by invitation)
Saturday 18 June ( 7.00pm) – St. Ann’s Church, St. Ann’s Square, Manchester M2 7LF
Concert ‘150 anni di gioielli d’Italia / 150 years of Italian jewels’ – Ticket £5
Soprano: Ginevra Schiassi – Pianoforte: Stefano Malferrari
Arias by Bellini / Rossini / Verdi / Martucci / Respighi / Puccini / Di Capua / Mario / Lama
The evening will close with Marsala wine ‘Pellegrino Garibaldi’ and Sicilian biscuits

Festa Italia on The Avenue, Manchester’s luxury shopping area – Classic cars Alfa Romeo/Lancia and more from Scuderia d’Italia, BBQ and food and drink stalls. Don’t miss it!
( 4.00pm) Big Screen area: screening of ‘Il Gattopardo / The Leopard’ (Italian with subtitles)
( 2.00pm-4.00pm) City centre – Italian section at the MANCHESTER DAY PARADE
( 6.30pm for 7.30pm) Midland Hotel Manchester – Gala Dinner ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY ITALY’

An exhibition describing the main stages and the protagonists that led to the political unification of Italy through books, documents, stamps, postcards and photos.
